The Konkel Scholarship Foundation Annual Scholarship Award

The Konkel Scholarship Foundation, Inc. announces its third annual Scholarship Award. This scholarship assistance is to consist of $2,000/yr. for a maximum of 4 consecutive years.

Students eligible for this scholarship are to be members of a senior high school of any Colorado community school district graduating class in good standing, manifesting a sincere desire and qualification for successful completion of a school of higher education, either academic or vocational.

Master Gardeners 2008-2009 Scholarship, Iowa State University Extension

The ISU Linn County Extension Master Gardeners Scholarship is available to graduating seniors who are residents of Linn County and who attend high schools in Linn County. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior seeking a degree in the field of horticulture at an Iowa college or university.

The one year Scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1000.00. To receive this Scholarship the recipient must be officially enrolled at a chosen Iowa college. Half ($500.00) will be awarded at the beginning of the first semester, and the second half ($500.00) will be awarded at the beginning of the second semester. To receive payment the recipient must provide official enrollment status from the college to the Linn County Master Gardeners’ office. The money will be deposited to the recipient’s college financial account.

New in 2008, the AISES Google Scholarship will fund scholarships awards to American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian AISES members pursuing degrees in the computer science, computer engineering and management information systems. AISES and Google support the advancement of American Indian and Alaska Native students working towards obtaining a degree in the fields computer science and technology so they can obtain the necessary skills to compete in today’s global society.

Community Science Fellowships and Community Teaching Fellowships

The Community Science Fellowship (CSF) and the Community Teaching Fellowship (CTF) was established to provide individuals who wish to exist at the forefront of science education and outreach in relation to population needs and community issues with an opportunity to explore their interests in public education, museum philanthropic efforts, public and social policy, youth development, and science outreach advocacy. The fellowship program concentrates on these areas of informal science education as they impact on problems of our communities and is intended to address rising issues in science education inequity. In addition to building professional qualities and academic qualifications that characterize the best agents of change in our profession, fellows are expected to help shape policies and lead research in cross-cultural and community science. They will be equipped with skills to improve programming for diverse populations in their own communities.

Science Ambassador Program for Teachers

The CDC Office of Workforce and Career Development’s Career Paths to Public Health Program is now accepting applications for the 2008 Science Ambassador Program.

Science Ambassador is an innovative career development opportunity for middle and high school science teachers. Selected teachers attend a 5-day workshop at CDC’s Atlanta offices where public health professionals, including epidemiologists and behavioral scientists, lead discussions on the history of public health and current public health topics. The learning environment is collaborative, and lectures are based on current research and interventions affecting public health worldwide. Previous topics include HIV/AIDS, teen dating violence, environmental lead exposure, and alcohol abuse.

Cape Cod Foundation Announces 11 New Scholarships for 2008

Community Foundation to award scholarships from more than 50 funds

The Cape Cod Foundation has announced its scholarship application deadline of April 1, 2008. This year, 11 new scholarships enrich the body of funds available for students through the Cape Cod Foundation’s annual scholarship cycle. That brings the number of active and future scholarships administered by the Foundation to more than 50.

Last year, the Foundation awarded nearly $200,000 to more than 50 students from Cape Cod and the Islands. The Foundation also administers scholarships for its supporting organization, the Cape Cod Association, one of the oldest and largest independent scholarship funds in New England, which last year distributed more than $400,000.

Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship

As reported by TMNews yesterday, Lilly Endowment Scholarship applications now available.

The Washington County Community Foundation reports Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship applications are available to traditional seniors and non-traditional students. Applications can be obtained at the three county high school guidance offices and the foundation office.

All applications are due to the Washington County Community Foundation office no later than Jan. 9 at 4 p.m. However, high school students have an earlier deadline to turn in applications to their guidance office and should refer to the deadline established at a given school. United Cooperative Scholarship Funds

United Cooperative Offering $10,000 in Scholarship Funds

United Cooperative is offering ten $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are looking to use their education to pursue a career in an agricultural field.

The company says at least five of the scholarships will be awarded to students majoring in an agricultural field, and at least one will be awarded to a student attending a technical school.
