IGERT at URI

The University of Rhode Island and the National Science Foundation have created a fellowship to help students to earn a Ph.D. in coastal and marine science and policy.
Qualifications: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and must be accepted into a Ph.D. program at the University of Rhode Island.
Amount of Award: $30,000 annually.
Length of Award: Two years.

Applicants must first apply and be accepted to a URI Ph.D. program. Application to the fellowship can occur while the application to URI is in process. Golden Key National Honor Society

The Golden Key National Honor Society provides a wide variety of scholarships for Golden Key members. Students may apply for more than one scholarship.
Qualifications: Applicants must be GKNHS members.
Amount of Award: Varies depending on type of scholarship. The Graduate Scholar Award is for $10,000.
Length of Award: One year, renewable.
Number of Awards: Varies.

Business and Professional Women’s Foundation

Description: The Business and Professional Women’s Foundation awards financial assistance to disadvantaged women who would like to further their education. Scholarships are provided to women who want to advance their career or will soon enter, or re-enter the workforce. The Foundation encourages women to pursue careers in high-growth, non-traditional fields such as engineering, business management, and the health sciences.
Qualifications: Women should be U.S. citizens and be 25 years of age or older. Applicants need to demonstrate critical financial need, clear career plans, and be officially accepted into an accredited program or course of study. Students be graduating within 12-24 months from the date of the grant.
Amount of Award: $500-$1,000.

Congressional Fellowships on Women and Public Policy

The Women’s Research and Education Institute offers Congressional Fellowships on Women and Public Policy. The Program allows students to gain experience in public policymaking by working 35 hours per week in a congressional office as a legislative aide in Washington, D.C.
Qualifications: Applicants must be current graduate students or have received their graduate degree within the past 18 months.
Amount of Award: A monthly stipend of $1,300, $500 for health insurance, and up to $750/semester for 3 credit hours at the student’s home institution.
Length of Award: 8 months.
Number of Awards: 6-10.
