National Science Foundation Graduate Research

Each year, the National Science Foundation (NSF) awards approximately 900 fellowships to outstanding students pursuing research-based masters or doctoral degrees in the fields of: Chemistry, Computer and Information Science and Engineering, Engineering, Geosciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physics and Astronomy, Psychology, and Social Sciences. Additional awards are offered for women in engineering and computer and information science.
Qualifications: Applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents at the beginning or early stages of their graduate studies. Those eligible to apply are college seniors, first-year graduate students, and others who have completed a limited amount of graduate study. (more…)

AAD: German Studies Research Grant

Description:
The program is “designed to promote study of cultural, political, historical, economical and social aspects of modern and contemporary German affairs from an inter- and multi-disciplinary perspective.”
Qualifications: Undergraduates (with at least junior standing) pursuing German Studies and graduates in the humanities and those working on a “Certificate in German Studies” are eligible to apply. Students must be nominated by their department chairs and be U.S. or Canadian citizens. Applicants should be enrolled full-time and have completed two years of college German.
Amount of Award: A research support of $1,500 to $3,000 is intended help with living and travel costs.

Hellenic Studies

The Hellenic University Club of New York offers the $1,000 Papanicolaou
Hellenic Heritage Graduate Research Grant to encourage Hellenic studies from the classic period through the eighteenth century and four to six Valergakis Graduate Research Grants of at least $1,000 each for researc in the biological, medical or behavioral sciences. Candidates must be of Hellenic descent and be either graduate students or postdoctoral scholars.

NSF Alliances for Broadening Participation in STEM (ABP)

The Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation and the Alliancesfor Graduate Education and the Professoriate seek to increase the number of students completing degree programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), especially students from groups underrepresented in STEM. Support begins at the baccalaureate level with the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP). For, eligible students, financial support is continued for 2 years of graduate study via the Bridge to the Doctorate (BD). The Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) further the graduate education of minority students through the doctorate level, preparing them for careers as STEM faculty and research professionals. NSF expects to award 3-5 LSAMP Cooperative Agreements of up to $1 million/year over 5 years; 14-17 BD supplements of up to $1million each for 24 months; and 1-2 AGEP Cooperative Agreements of up to $1million/year over 5 years.
