Foreign Language and Area Studies Awards: Academic Year and Summer
The Graduate Fellowship Office has begun accepting applications for the Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) awards for Academic Year 2008-09 and Summer 2009.
FLAS awards enable students who are U.S. citizens and permanent residents to acquire a high level of competence in one or more foreign languages. Fellowships are awarded to students in modern foreign language and area studies, with priority given to students in the humanities, social sciences, and professional fields. Eligible languages for the IES include Breton, Catalan, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, modern Greek, Irish, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Welsh, and Yiddish. For academic year awards, entering students must submit the combined Graduate Application for Admission and Fellowships by the departmental deadline.
Continuing students should apply directly to the Graduate Fellowships Office, 318 Sproul Hall. See the Graduate Division Web site for complete program details and the online application form.
