US Department of Homeland Security Graduate Fellowships


You must be a U.S. citizen as of the application deadline.

If you have earned a master’s or doctoral degree as of theapplication deadline, you are ineligible.

If you are pursuing a DVM, MBA, MD, joint MD/PhD, JD, or joint JD/PhDdegree, you are ineligible.

You must have a cumulative undergraduate GPA from the institutiongranting your bachelor’s degree of 3.30 or higher on a 4.00 scale,including fall 2006 grades if enrolled during that term.

If you are currently enrolled in graduate school, you must have acumulative graduate GPA of 3.30 or higher on a 4.00 scale, includingfall 2006 grades.

You must be pursuing a doctoral or master’s degree with a thesisrequirement in the physical sciences, mathematical sciences, computerand information sciences, life sciences, social sciences, psychology,or engineering. See Fields of Study List.

If you are a college senior as of the application deadline, and youwill graduate prior to fall 2007, you are eligible.

If you have previously earned a bachelor’s degree but are notcurrently enrolled, and you have completed no more than two graduatecourses since completion of a bachelor’s degree, you are eligible.

If you are enrolled full-time in the first year of a PhD program as ofthe application deadline, and prior to fall 2006 you had completed nomore than two graduate courses since completion of a bachelor’sdegree, you are eligible.

If you are enrolled full-time in the first year of a master’s programas of the application deadline, and prior to fall 2006 you hadcompleted no more than two graduate courses since completion of abachelor’s degree, and you will begin a PhD program in fall 2007, youare eligible.

If you are enrolled part-time in graduate courses and wish to enrollfull-time in a PhD or master’s program in fall 2007, and as of fall2007 you will have completed no more than two graduate courses sincecompletion of a bachelor’s degree, you are eligible.

If you are a veterinary medical student who is enrolled at anaccredited school or college of veterinary medicine and who iscurrently in the fourth year of a professional curriculum leading tothe DVM or VMD degree, and who will begin a postgraduate course ofstudy in the 2007-2008 academic year leading to a PhD degree, you areeligible.

If you have any commitments such as active military service, summerfield work, or study abroad, that would prevent you from attendingschool full-time, attending the fall 2007 orientation meeting inNovember and participating full-time in a 10-week internship during thesummer of 2008, or accepting an employment offer following receipt ofyour highest degree, you are ineligible.
