Ford Foundation- Predoctoral Fellowship
The Ford Foundation provides fellowships to minorities in an attempt to increase the number of underrepresented minorities on the nation’s college and university faculties, to enhance diversity on campuses, and to address the persisting effects of past discrimination. The fellowship identifies individuals with demonstrated ability and provides them with the opportunity to engage in graduate study leading to a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Science (Sc.D.).
Qualifications: Must be a senior, a U.S. citizen or national, and be a member of one of the following groups: Alaska Natives (Eskimo or Aleut), Black/African Americans, Mexican American/Chicanos/Chicanas, Native American Indians, Native Pacific Islanders (Polynesian/Micronesian) or Puerto Ricans. Applicants should be planning to enroll in a research based Ph.D. or Sc.D. program. Students should desire a teaching and research career at the college or university level and have not previously earned a doctoral degree.
Amount of Award: $20,000 stipend and an institutional allowance of $3,000.
Length of Award: Three years.
Number of Awards: 60.
