Sons of Italy Foundation


Order Sons of Italy in America (OSIA) offers scholarships through the Sons of Italy Foundation. General scholarships are available to U.S. citizens of Italian descent (both undergraduate and graduate students may apply). An additional scholarship, Sons of Italy Italian Language Scholarship, is offered to juniors and seniors majoring in Italian language studies (some application requirements are different; please refer to their website for more information).
Qualifications: Be a U.S. citizen of Italian descent (at least one Italian or Italian American grandparent). Applicants should also be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a four-year institution.

Amount of Award: $4,000-$25,000.
Length of Award: One year.
Number of Awards: 10-13 general scholarships.
Application Deadline: Applications must be postmarked by February 28, 2007
Application Process:
Applicants must submit an application form (with a self addressed, stamped #10 envelope), official transcripts from each institution attended (undergraduates must also include high school transcripts), test scores from all standardized tests within the past five years (ACT, SAT, GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT), a resume, two letters of recommendation, an essay (500-750 words on the principal contributions of Italian Americans to U.S. culture and society), and a $25 non-refundable processing fee (only money orders will be accepted). Only scholarship recipients will be contacted, and recipients will be notified by April 15th.
