The Educational Leadership Department in the College of Education is seeking qualified individuals for a for a tenure track position of Assistant Professor in the area of Educational Leadership and Educational Research. This position is based on the Flagstaff campus but the successful candidate may be required to travel to distance learning sites around the state to teach courses and to assist in carrying out department assignments. The successful candidate will teach graduate courses in Educational Leadership and in Educational Research, both in a traditional format and utilizing distance learning technologies; take a leadership role in quality assurance as it relates to course delivery statewide; advise graduate students; mentor part-time instructors; maintain a strong personal program of scholarship and service, including participation in department functions (i.e., committees and task forces); serve on dissertation committees; provide technical assistance in the dissertation process; and participate in appropriate course development. This position will begin August, 2007.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate with an emphasis in Educational Leadership, Educational Research, or equivalent.
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduates of degree programs which meet standards equivalent to a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Educational Leadership and Educational Research.
  • Experience in teaching and school administration at the K-12 level.
  • Experience teaching graduate level courses in educational leadership and research.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the technology and issues relative to the delivery of academic programs in a distance learning environment.
  • Development of syllabi and teaching of courses using multiple distance delivery venues (i.e., Interactive Television, web, etc.)
  • Documented effectiveness in teaching, and development of a successful research agenda.
  • Evidence of a commitment to diversity and ability to work with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statutes, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting.
