Washington Financial Aid Association
The WFAA scholarship is designed to make higher education more accessible to promising students of color. This award is a one-year scholarship for a student of color attending a WFAA member college or university. The scholarship award amount is variable, up to $1,500.
Scholarship Guidelines
Eligibility is based on the following:
- Strong leadership ability;
- Academic promise, must have a minimum 3.0 GPA or its equivalent;
- Financial need as certified on the application (determined by a 2007-2008 FAFSA)
School certification demonstrating financial need as determined by the 2007-2008 FAFSA is required. - Must enroll at least halftime at a WFAA member community or technical college, public or private college/university.
Application Requirements
- A complete Scholarship Application, including the School Certification (bottom of application).
(Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please make sure you have all pages included in your packet.) - A typed statement (maximum 2 pages) addressing each of the following:
- your personal and educational goals and what motivated you to further your education;
- how you have been influenced by your culture and how you will use your education to contribute to your culture or across cultures;
- personal/extra-curricular activities; including community service, employment, high school/college, multicultural activities, honors and awards.
