Education Scholarship Fiesta del Sol San Diego 2007

On August 26 and 27, 2006, Justice Overcoming Boundaries organized the 1st Annual Fiesta Del Sol - San Diego, celebrating the rich history, diverse culture and good works of the people of San Diego. Modeled after the renowned Fiesta Del Sol in Chicago, this first annual event was entirely community driven and produced. 50,000 San Diegans attended the two day celebration and we raised $38,000 for our work and disbursed $10,000 in scholarships. The festival was applauded by community members, corporate sponsors, and elected officials. The second annual Fiesta Del Sol—San Diego will be held on August 18-19, 2007.

ABOUT JUSTICE OVERCOMING BOUNDARIES
JOB began in 2003 when a group of clergy began coming together to envision a regional, county-wide, faith-based organization focused on addressing the disparities in San Diego County. The leadership of JOB committed to engage other community institutions in an effort to build bridges across race, class, and geography, bringing more people to the table of justice.

CRITERIA

Must be enrolled in an education institution as an undergraduate or graduate student by Fall 2007.
Must have resided in San Diego County.
Must complete scholarship application and submit by deadline date.
Must have letter of recommendation submitted (See application for details).
Must submit proof of enrollment prior to receiving scholarship funds.
Must be available to attend a Financial Education Workshop hosted by GMAC Financial prior to receiving scholarship funds.
If selected, must be available to attend Scholarship Reception on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 and be available to volunteer and participate in Awards Ceremony at Fiesta del Sol San Diego on August 18-19, 2007.

SELECTION PROCESS
Applications will be reviewed by designated members of the Fiesta del Sol Education Scholarship Selection Committee. If you are awarded a scholarship, program staff will notify you via phone and e-mail.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINE AND Timeline

End of July scholarship winners will be notified via email and telephone
Attend August 15th – Fiesta del Sol Scholarship Reception
Submit proof of enrollment at college/university prior to receiving scholarship funds.
