“BE” BRILLIANT ESSAY CONTEST
This contest is being funded by the Generation BE Foundation and the Athena Institute. The BE Brilliant Essay contest is asking students in middle school, high school, and a two year or four year post-secondary school to write a persuasive letter directed to the business and government leaders of today about the legacy they should be leaving to ensure prosperity and sustainability for future generations. Winners will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship and will participate in the Gala Awards Ceremony as an awards presenter at Discover Brilliant International Conference and Expo 2007 on September 18.
- Some questions students are asked to answer in their essays include:
- Why is sustainability important to you and your future?
- What are you doing or would like to do in the future to make buildings, consumer choices, or transportation more sustainable?
- How can leaders create greater value for consumers or citizens with less impact?
- Which organizations or leaders are already making sustainable choices? What are those choices and why are they important to you?
- What criteria should business or government leaders be using to make sure their decisions or products are sustainable?

The essay contest is open to students in B.C., Washington , Idaho and Oregon
