Steve and Lola Kaider Health Care Scholarship Program


The applicant must meet one or more of the following definitions of “reentry”.
1) The applicant did not attend college after completing high school for a period of one academic year or more. This was due to work, family or personal circumstances. The applicant is currently enrolled in one of the approved health care professions., OR
2) The applicant attended college after high school but had to stop for a period of one academic year or more. This was due to work, family or personal circumstances. The applicant is currently enrolled in one of the approved health care professions, OR
3) The applicant is currently trained, as a health care professional but due to an adverse employment situation caused by changing job markets must retrain. B. The applicant must be accepted to or currently enrolled in any of the qualifying health care related programs offered at Foothill or De Anza College.

Description:
Philanthropists Lola & Steve Kaider established a foundation to assist women with educational expenses as they returned to school to complete programs and serve in health care careers. This endowment to the Foothill-DeAnza Foundation funds scholarships for these re-entry women. The Health Care Scholarship Fund was established to ensure equivalent opportunities for men.

Comments: One applicant from each college was chosen to receive the Presidents Award of $5,000.00.
