Galvanize the Future Essay Contest


Who is eligible?
The AmericanGalvanizers Association's Galvanize the Future scholarship essaycontest is available to full- or part-time, undergraduate or graduatestudents of any age enrolled at an accredited 4-year college oruniversity only in North America, during the 2006-2007 school year.High school students are not eligible to enter this contest. Qualifyingmajors include architecture, civil engineering, and structural engineering.

How long should entries be?
Essays should be at least 1000 words, but should not exceed 2000 words.

What style is most appropriate?
Judges will evaluate submissions based on relevance, accuracy, conciseness, and ingenuity. Please submit your essays in English.

How will essays be judged?
Eachessay will be read and ranked by reviewers at the AGA. Final awardswill be determined by both the AGA's executive director and president.

Where do I start?
The AGA website, www.galvanizeit.org,provides a wealth of no-cost resources on hot-dip galvanizinginformation, including access to the current publications, printedarticles, technical information resource CDs, and a variety of industrylinks.

When is the entry deadline?
March 30, 2007

How do I submit my entry?
Submityour essay by downloading the Microsoft Word electronic entry form onthe AGA website. Fill out the form by typing in the fields. Save theform to your desktop, then attach and email along with your essay to scholarship@galvanizeit.org.Essays must be in Word, Word Perfect, Rich Text Format, or AdobeAcrobat PDF format. Please ensure your entry form and essay are senttogether. You will receieve an email confirmation that your entry hasbeen received. How many times can I enter the 2006-2007 contest?
One entry will be accepted per student.

What about the winners?
Winnerswill be personally notified and announced on the AGA website inApril/May 2007. The scholarship will be paid directly to the winningstudent's educational institution. All submissions become the propertyof the American Galvanizers Association and will not be returned.Winning essays become the property of the American GalvanizersAssociation, which will, however, cooperate fully with the authors inthe republication of essays.
