Georgia Engineering Foundation
The Georgia Engineering Foundation (GEF) sponsors a program that awards scholarships to worthy students, who are preparing for a career in engineering or engineering technology. These scholarships are awarded competitively based on the student’s demonstrated competence in mathematics, science, and communications skills; his/her interest in a career in either the engineering or the engineering technology field and his/her financial need.
TYPES OF AWARDS:
Scholarships — awarded competitively to recognize and assist worthy students.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- U.S. Citizenship (U.S. Citizenship is not required for the scholarship funded by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).
- Legal residence in the state of Georgia.
To check legal residence, please click collegeboard, then click “GA” on the map. - Attendance at, or acceptance and plans to attend, an ABET accredited engineering or engineering technology program in the fall of 2006 leading to a BS degree or higher. Those eligible include incoming freshmen, upper classmen and graduate students. Georgia residents may attend a school that is outside of Georgia. - A completed application form must be submitted on or before August 31, 2007. Applications from incoming freshmen must include an official high school transcript with final senior grades, SAT scores, two letters of recommendation and a small photograph. Applications from college students other than incoming freshmen must include an official transcript of all college grades and a small photograph.
AMOUNT OF AWARDS:
Scholarships — $500 to $5000
NUMBER OF AWARDS:
Total number of Scholarships awarded annually are about 45.

SCHEDULE:
Applications must be submitted on or before August 31, 2007.
Select applicants will be notified in September for setting up interview dates in September and October.
A presentation banquet and award ceremony will be held in November 2007 in Atlanta, Georgia. The time and location with be forthcoming. (Click on Banquet for awards and photos of 2006 event.)
